Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell is a Washington D.C.-based American TV journalist, anchor, and anchor and. Mitchell graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a diploma in English literature. Mitchell began as a radio and TV reporter at KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. In 1976, she joined CBS-affiliate WDVM-TV located in Washington DC (then WTOP). In Washington, she was appointed general correspondent for NBC News two year later. In 1981 she started reporting from the White House. In 1988, she became the chief reporter for Congress. She became chief White House reporter in 1992, and chief Foreign Affairs reporter for NBC News. Mitchell has been a panelist and anchor of the TV program Meet the Press. Mitchell was on an audience for the debates of 1988 between George Bush (then president) as well as Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married with Alan Greenspan, former Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received in 2005 her Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in The John F. Kennedy School of Government. In 2004 the Radio-Television News Directors Association, (RTNDA) recognized Mitchell for her role in defending First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell began covering for the White House in 1981-1988, in both the Reagan presidency. She has covered several notable reports over the years, including fiscal reform, the budget as well as The Iran Contra scandal. Mitchell traveled extensively together with Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev to world summits.
